Shaw Family Documentary

We have been blessed to know Amanda & Andy for a couple years now. We first heard about them and Amanda’s awesome business, Amanda Fales Photography, through mutual friends. Around that time, we were looking for a wedding photographer and we knew we wanted them to shoot our wedding. Of course they did an amazing job and we couldn’t have been happier!

Soon after we got married, we moved to the south side of Indianapolis, which happened to be nearby where they lived. Our friends invited us to join their small group, which Amanda & Andy had been apart of for several years. We quickly became great friends. Amanda and Andy had just become a family of three, welcoming sweet Harry to the world. When he was about 8 months old, I was lucky enough to babysit him during the week for a couple of months. He was the happiest baby, and still is such a happy little boy.

This past summer, the Shaws told us they were going on a new adventure, and that meant moving almost 500 miles away to Washington D.C. We were so happy for them, yet at the same time selfishly wanted them to stay here in Indy. Things really started to get real as they listed their house, started selling most of their belongings, and packing what was left.

We proposed the idea of filming this transition in their lives, and they were completely on board with the idea. It really was a blessing because it was an excuse to spend more time with them before they moved. We could also film them, and then set down our cameras and help them pack. We were able to film many different times including at their going-away party and a photo shoot in downtown Indy with Caitlin Sullivan.

The end of July came too quickly, and like it or not, we had to send them on their way. Thankfully, we could say “see you later” because they would be back to visit. We’re so glad they’ve been back to visit a few times already, and we can just pick up right where we left off. We sure miss the Shaws and we’re thankful for our friendship!

With all that being said, you have to watch this sneak peek (short film coming soon!) that documents the Shaws during this exciting, yet emotional, time of transition in their life. It was a pleasure to film and it makes me miss them even more as I edit and watch it! We hope you enjoy this little peek into the lives of the Shaws. 🙂
