Ashley & Ian tied the knot on May 18th in Lafayette, IN at Ian’s childhood home. It was a small, intimate setting with around 30 of their closest friends and family. Simple and laid back, yet elegant and meaningful all at the same time. Their wedding was one to remember. As cliché as it may sound, the theme was family, love, and a little bit of nature strewn in. Everything had meaning in their day starting with the family tradition of Jack Daniels shots to their beloved pugs, Johnny and Apollo, as the ring bearers. The ceremony was officiated by their close friend and was short and sweet. They just let the day unfold on its own, allowing for impromptu moments to happen.
Ashley was one of the most beautiful brides I’ve ever seen. She pulled off red lipstick, soft curls, and lace dress like you wouldn’t believe. She thought of every detail from the sixpence in her shoe to a cake topper from Ian’s Grandma’s wedding. Not only that, but she incorporated red and green into her wedding, without making it look like Christmas! It had a beautiful, springtime garden aura. Their favors were green, ceramic leaves handmade by Ian’s Mom – how awesome is that?
Ashley’s Dad passed away a few years back, but she made sure to honor and remember him during her day. That was so close to my heart because I was without my Dad on my wedding day as well. She had a little pin made from scraps of an old shirt of his and pinned it in her dress and she tied his wedding band around her bouquet. She lit a candle that burned throughout the day in memory of him, with a photo of them siting next to it. Her paternal Grandmother in Florida couldn’t make it to the wedding, but she made sure to include her via FaceTime. Ashley walked down the aisle alone, and Ian met her halfway.
They warmly welcomed us and treated us like lifelong friends. It felt as if we were truly a part of their wedding day. I couldn’t believe how they kept going out of their way to make sure we were happy, well-fed, and watered – on their own wedding day! They spoiled both us and The Parkers! That just goes to show how kind they are to look out for others needs on their big day. Thank you so much Ashley and Ian for your kindness and hospitality. We wish you two the very best and hope to stay in touch! It was our pleasure to film your wedding and are lucky to have you as friends. 🙂
This was our first of the season and our first time shooting with our friends, The Parkers photography duo. Do not miss their photos HERE. We had such a great time with them, it doesn’t make any sense not to book the both of us together. 😉
Wow – what an amazing wedding to kick off our season. We left their wedding feeling inspired and blessed to have been a part of it all! THIS is why we love our job.
